I don't know what it is, but I love woodpeckers -- except when they are pecking on our cabin wall. That happened about four years ago. It took days of shooing and hanging all sorts of stuff from the roof to deter one. You can still see the raw area under the eves where the bird did its damage. It was a quick one, hard to get a good look or picture. I think it might have been a Northern Flicker. - Margy
