Road trip to Cape Spear and Petty Harbour

When Geoff and I moved away from Newfoundland in 1988 my niece, Amanda was not quite 3 years old.  Now she's all grown up and married and delighted to be in a brand new job with "vacation, Aunt Elaine, real vacation!"

So, on the second last day of my visit Amanda took a vacation day and we spent the day together. We did a little shopping, dodged a bit of rain, had a great gabby lunch at the Bagel Cafe on Duckworth Street and then hit the road.

We made a brief stop at Cape Spear, the most easterly point, not just in Newfoundland or Canada but in ALL of North America.

Then we headed over the hill and out the road to Petty Harbour and , miracle of miracles, the sun came out!

A selfie of me and my darlin' niece.
We capped the day with an early (by a few days) birthday supper at her Dad's house - salmon and ribs - YUM!

  2. What a wonderful visit! I really want to get back to Newfoundland. Our last trip was way too short. Maybe the next time the ferries will be on time and not eat into our vacation time. - Margy

I find my friends live in other countries but to me they look all the same the scenery as you show in your country.
