On my walk from the parking lot to the office this morning one of my co-workers stopped me and said "I think that bird across the street has a claw frozen to the ground, it keeps picking at it's foot." I glanced across the street and as calmly as I could said "No.......it's picking at it's breakfast...." This is what we were looking at.
Now I'm trying to figure out if it's a juvenile Northern Goshawk or a juvenile Cooper's Hawk. Any one have an opinion??
That's quite a regal bird you saw there!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a young Coopers Hawk. I am jealous! What a catch!

ReplyDeleteTake a look at this pic. They look the same.
I don't know what kind it is, but he's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI've asked another blogger I read, who takes a lot of bird photos, to come across and have a look for you ;)
Rachael asked me to come over and identify the hawk.
ReplyDeleteIt is an immature Coopers Hawk. Their breast feathers are streaked and their eyes are yellow.
I have a number of them here where I live in Ohio and have some photos of them on my birds blog.
