Friday My Town Shoot Out - Classics of Childhood

This week's theme "Classics of Childhood" was chosen by Ellisa of Michigan. I figure that one of the classic photos of any child is one where they look evil. I think this one my Dad took of me when I was about 20 months old fits the bill. We were visiting my Aunt Lucy and Uncle Wilf and I just wouldn't go to sleep. Finally, at 2 am, he took me for a drive in the car and I drifted off to la-la land. I was still an only child at this point and apparently I thought I was queen of the universe....

I took this photo of my nieces , Amanda and Sarah, when they were still wee girls (they're now 24 and 21 respectively). My Dad, their Poppy, was giving them a good soaking with the garden hose on a hot day at the cottage. My Dad's been gone 5 years but we can all hold this moment forever.

    I love the picture of you in the chair. Your expression is priceless. It looks as if you have just told someone off and the look on your face says, "so there!"

    I love the photo of you when you were little. You even had the BUG eyes back then, destined for photography. The wood panelling behind you was so chic in the day. The Poppy pic is a treasure forever. Thanks for sharing these great shots.

    I've been thinking a lot about childhood and my family's past, especially now that I've moved to Canada. Two generations back it was home to relatives on both sides of my family. I want to get my mother (93 now) to tell me some stories of the past before they are lost. When we moved to BC it felt more like coming home than a scary new place. Must have had a bit of Canadian hidden in my genes. Enjoyed your pic and post. - Margy

    As I will be losing my father soon, this photo makes me teary eyed. Thank you for sharing it with me as a reminder to capture the moments while I still can.

    It does not seem like 5 years. Today is the 14th anniversary for Mom. I like to think they are enjoying a few scotches together.
