Friday Shoot Out - domestic animals

The theme for this week's Friday Shoot Out - domestic animals - was chosen by Sandy of Apache Junction, Arizona. Thanks Sandy, this was fun!

Here are some of the animals I know and love.

Our impertinent cat Gray.

My brother Rob relaxing with his two cats Haydes - on the back of the couch, and Kit - reading the newspaper.

My cousin Deborah's dog Tucker LOVES to go for a drive in the car.

Deborah used to have dear little Cali, who also loved to go in the car. Cali is gone now but certainly not forgotten.

Our next door neighbours have Nitrous, an eight year old white German Shepherd. This photo of her and my husband Geoff was taken just after they'd been for a walk together.

I occasionally see these two sweet faces in the morning on my way to work. They wait patiently while their owner picks up his morning coffee.

And finally, another shot of our poor spoiled beast. He allows us to live here.....

Please take a moment to visit some of the other Friday Shoot Out participants. If you click on the camera icon in the right hand column it will take you to the Shoot Out site and the participant links. Thanks again to Patty and Reggie Girl for starting this weekly fun and to Gordon , Gigi and Jen for keeping us organized

  7. Oh my goodness! You have such an amazing post here...I love all the photos - all of them! In particular, the first one of the cat hanging over the chair, your neighbor and the two dog heads looking out the window - oh and the pup driving are my favorites.

    Well done!

  10. I want to hang the first photo on my wall. It is gorgeous. I love how it has a vintage feel to it. All of your photos are great. I also like the one of the two dogs in the car window. So curious.

I see you collect Santa Claus'. I love Santa Claus.

  11. Some of these are stunning photographs that capture the personality of the animals anlong with their image. Just excellent.

When I go to pick up coffee in the morning, I often see one of those tiny Smart Cars with a huge St. Bernard sitting patiently in the passenger seat waiting for his owner.

And where is my camera, you ask? In a drawer back at home, of course.

  13. As always, Elaine, your photos sparkle. Fab dog in a window shots, you've captured the patience on the faces of the two waiting. I can imagine them saying, "Knew he would stop here, it's always the same old routine." And the dog driving deserves to be a Shot of the Week!!

  14. Your photos are full of great expressions! You caught Gray at a very funny moment! And I wonder why cats often like to lie on the very newspaper that you are reading.

  15. of course your shot that made it to the top of the week is great, but I like the last the best... yes I can see that he just lets you live there so you can take care of his needs, yes indeed.

  16. Your Gray is awesome and you have soft, lovely pictures of him. The picture of the two doggies on the way to work are faces to look forward to. Your impertinent Gray looks like he cannot believe Tucker was driving a car. Thank you for the brilliant photos. I loved them.

  18. Yes Carrie, Geoff and Nitrous do have a mutual admiration thing going on. She's a lovely dog, we think of her as our "rent-a-dog". Whenever our neighbours are away for a day we're her "go to" people. She's 8 years old and about 80 pounds but, for some unknown reason, scared silly of our 12 pound cat Gray. We can't get her to come into our house, she won't even walk up our front steps - it doesn't help that Gray is usually looking out the door... Gray apparently has presence, go figure. Don't get the wrong idea though, they've never had a nasty encounter and Gray is too lazy to be mean.

  19. I love them all. But since I have been following the antics of Gray for so long, my favorites are the first and last photo of Gray being 100% cat.

Dog in car is a great photo as is Rob with his newspaper. Cats love to keep you from reading newspapers, don't they?

Naturally, I tried to blow up the newspaper to see if I could read it.

I think that would be a good shoot out subject. Your hometown newspaper.

They are all wonderful photos. Have a great weekend.

This is my first day back at work in two weeks. I am off to shoot a baseball tournament and an all-you-can-eat crab fund raising event. We can never get enough crabs around here.
