ABC Wednesday "S"

"S" is for Stratford Shakespeare Festival and also for sadness. The building pictured here is the Festival Theatre, one of the four theatres of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. The flags were flying at half mast on September 10th because Richard Monette, the former Artistic Director, had passed away earlier that day at the age of 64. You could feel the sadness everywhere in Stratford that day. Mr. Monette built a wonderful legacy during his 14 years at the helm of the Festival and will be greatly missed.

Previews of the 2009 Season will start as early as April 11/09 with the Opening Week starting on June 2/09 with Colm Feore starring in Macbeth (or the Scottish play, as it's often known in theatre circles).
