Lake Placid and High Peaks Resort, part 2

One of the delightful members of the press corps this past weekend was Jerome the fluffy sidekick of Danielle Adam and Jim Dawe , magazine consultants from Quebec. Jerome even tackled a hike up Mt. Joe on Saturday morning with some of the group.

here's the hearty group, including Jerome, near the summit in a photo compliments of their intern guide

another amazing view from our room Saturday afternoon we were treated to a visit to Oktoberfest at Whiteface Mountain. One of the attractions at Whiteface is the ride on the Cloudsplitter Gondola to the summit of Little Whiteface -elevation 3676'.
The visibility from the summit was approximately 70 miles and it was 34 degrees farenheit. Geoff went from the summit of Mt. Joe in the morning to the summit of Little Whiteface in the afternoon. a view of Lake Placid from the summit
as we were boarding our bus to leave Oktoberfest Geoff caught this reveller for posterity, think he's had too much ale? Probably had too much before he decided to wear that shirt with his lederhosen...Sunday morning Geoff and I went to the Olympic Center to take a look at a CHE (Canadian Hockey Enterprises) hockey school practice.

There are constant reminders of the Center's history
Monday morning arrived and it was time for us to head home, but not before getting some of the best photos of the trip just outside our door

Geoff scraping the windows for the first time this fall - only this wasn't frost, it was ice which had formed from the mist on the lake

the early morning drive north along 86 and 37 was lovely

we followed a Saranac Ale truck most of the way

does it get any better than this?

It was a wonderful, busy weekend and thanks to Ginny Morrison, Bill Gathen, Heidi Stone, Bill DeForrest and the staff of High Peaks Resort and Lane Hospitality for an amazing experience.

  1. Elaine those are some of the nicest pictures I've ever seen. What beautiful scenery. Of course I am in love with Jerome the dog!

  2. It would get better if you drank the Saranac. I trust you did. I'm a big fan of their IPA. And their Black and Tan.
