Just after the first two babies fledged last May we woke one morning to find a bat in the hallway just indoors and around the corner from the nest. I proceeded to chase the bat with a broom like a lunatic for about 10 minutes before depositing it safely outside. Later that morning the doves disappeared. A few weeks later we discovered their new nest in one of our hanging planters. They spent the remainder of the season raising chicks in the planter. I'm hoping we have a bat free spring and, with luck, they will stay above the door.
