Mourning Dove update and more

As I posted on April 23rd, the nesting Mourning Doves are back this year but on our neighbour's window sill, not ours.  Well, the first pair of chicks have fledged and today I found them hanging out in our tree.   No sign of the adults starting on brood #2 yet.

Still on the topic of birds, I saw this wind-blown Red-Tailed Hawk near the Zorra Township office today.

I drove past it, did a quick swing around and pulled up on the shoulder of the road about 100ft. south of it's location and took a couple of quick shots before it took off.

Had a moment to shoot this horse and barn today as well.

  1. That hawk reminds me, I must drive out by the guelph lake soon and see if the ospreys are using the nest platforms.

  3. Elaine-
Now why did the doves move I wonder? Hmmm maybe they are afraid of Mr. Gray? The picture of the babes is lovely!

I love red tail hawks- they are SO beautiful- sightings where I live are rare.

The horse and barn photo is gorgeous- worthy of your next calendar!

    Sending hugs-
    Vicki

  4. I was looking forward to the doves this year. Perhaps Gray gave them an eviction notice. Hope they return.
