Skywatch Friday - Bay of Islands, Newfoundland, Canada
I took this brooding shot of the sky over the Bay of Islands on September when I was visiting my birthplace, Corner Brook, Newfoundland.

ABC Wednesday - "K"
It's time for ABC Wednesday. This is a fun meme and lots of bloggers take part on a regular basis - last week 101 people contributed to the site.
This past Sunday we took a drive to London (Ontario) and, partially because there's currently a detour off Highway 2 and partially because we like what we call the "Arva route", we drove through the small town of Kintore. As we drove through Kintore, I spotted this sign in front of Chalmers United Church which was promoting a knitting group. My friend Vicki at 2 Bags Full will like this one.

Friday My Town Shoot Out - black and white, Woodstock Ontario
The location I've chosen for "my town in black and white" is the clock tower of our City Hall. I've photographed this building in all sorts of weather and have even posted a few of the photos here. I think this is the first time it's appearing in black and white.

Hello to all my Friday My Town Shoot Out friends!

Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia part 3
On Wednesday, September 7th the weather cooperated and we had a lovely drive around the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
One of our stops was at Lone Sheiling for a walk through the tranquility of the 350 year old sugar Maple trees.

Fall is just around the corner.

The stop at Green Cove was spectacular.

And we were lucky enough to see a moose cow up close and personal.

Weather
Just a little damp as we left North Sydney for Port aux Basques on Marine Atlantic's ferry "The Blue Puttees".
I'm sitting in a comfy chair in a lounge listening to Michael Buble's "Home" on my iPod. Here's hoping for a good crossing.

A day on the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia part 1
I'm a little limited for uploading due to a poor wifi signal but I'll do what I can.
We spent the day driving from Cheticamp on the west side of the Cabot Trail to North Sydney, where we'll catch the ferry to Newfoundland early tomorrow morning.
This is how my day started - when I woke at 6:50am I realized the sun was coming over the mountains, I dressed, grabbed my camera and iPod and flew out the door to this view.

On the Road Again
My theory is that my vacations always come at just the right time, at the precise moment that I need a break. My theory was formulated when, at the ripe old age of 21 and working in my first office job, a caller told me - in no uncertain terms - that I should "get another f@%*ing job". I had sense enough to not take ownership of the problem he had with the government department he was trying to reach. As luck should have it, I was starting my vacation the very next day - my first trip to the UK. I returned refreshed and invigorated three weeks later with about 10 rolls of film to process.
As I write this I have "two sleeps" left before I head to the east coast - first to Nova Scotia to visit family in the Halifax area and then a road trip and some hiking and photos along the Cabot Trail.

Then we'll travel via Marine Atlantic to Newfoundland, my birthplace, to visit more family and more hiking and photos.

I hope you'll pop by from time to time to see what we've been up to.
