Juvenile Female Cardinal

This young lovely dropped by the feeders outside the kitchen window while I was washing dishes this evening. The slightly softened focus is the result of shooting through the window screen.

  1. We have a couple of juveniles around our back yard. When the feeder is empty they start hopping around the deck calling me. They have such a rakish look to them. Cute.

  2. We often see a juvenile male as well and he's REALLY funky looking. Cardinals wake me in the morning and keep me company when I'm washing the dinner dishes and making my lunch for the next day. They have such presence.

  3. I love this picture--The screen really did soften the picture and gave it some nice texture!

  4. I haven't been able to take any pictures of birds at Mom's feeder. When I barely move they see me and off they go. But they are still fun to watch. Our most frequent visitor is a Blue Jay. And he sure has a good appetite. - Margy

  5. Hi Margy - I bet the Jay has a loud voice along with the appetite.

  7. This header has been up less than a week, so yes, it is new.

I'm just about to post a photo of a juvenile male Cardinal. The juvenile males are not dignified looking like the females - just wait til you see it.
