A trip up the Great Northern Peninsula

Too tired to write much tonight, sooooo tired from all the walking and fresh air. Here are a few photos from the Western Brook Pond Trail, enjoy -
And then after dinner at the Shallow Bay Motel, where we have a cabin for the night, we walked the beach -

The Gravels Trail, Port au Port Peninsula, Newfoundland

Today we walked The Gravels Trail along the coast of the Port au Port Peninsula.
The weather conditions were ideal.
At first glance, it would appear that the ground in this photo is covered by tree roots. It is much more likely that these whitish snakes of wood are juniper tree trunks growing as tuckamore due to strong winds along the coast.
We saw Common Loons....
and Northern Gannets.
We enjoyed more of the view and
watched others enjoying the view
...and we were simply awed by it all.

A day trip out the shore

If you can believe it, this is the view from a gas station in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Cousin Deborah and I were just heading out on a road trip to Frenchman's Cove, York Harbour, Lark Harbour and Little Port.
Splashes of nautical colour in Frenchman's Cove.
A Greater Yellow Legs at Little Port.
And finally, me, holding tough against the RDF (rain, drizzle and fog) at York Harbour - it was glorious!

Friday My Town Shoot Out - What am I?

The Friday My Town Shoot Out started early in 2009 as the result of blog communications between Patty and Reggie Girl and has now expanded to a gang of like-minded enthusiasts around the world. This week the Shoot Out home page features an interview with Patty on the origins of this meme. Patty is a stellar photographer and does an awesome job of sharing her town of Crisfield, Maryland through her blog. She and I have become blogosphere friends and our cats say "Hey!" to each other every now and then.

But I digress. This week the Town Blogger Team chose the theme "What am I?" Here are my two entries.

I am metal, but what am I?

Are they dancing to a Motown hit, maybe "Stop in the Name of Love!"? Are they rehearsing the Monty Python skit "The Minister of Silly Walks"?

I'll put you out of your misery. The first is a metal rendition of the City of Woodstock logo, unfortunately I could find an explanation of the symbol anywhere.

The second photo is of a Taoist Tai-Chi group. They have a studio across the street from Museum Square here in the city and last night they took advantage of the lovely, humidity-free weather to take their exercises outdoors to the Square.

Sunday sighting

Just happened to catch this out of the corner of my eye while driving east on Fanshawe Road, just east of Highbury in London, Ontario. So, I quickly pulled over
walked back about 300ft and said...
....hello, Beautiful!

Streetfest, Woodstock

Kobbler Jay is a real ham and very enteraining - he captivated an audience of all ages at Streetfest tonight.

First let me state that I love my job. That being said, it's a beautiful fresh morning and I'd rather be home on the veranda doing a crossword puzzle.....

Driving home from the dentist - That's my world

I kid you not, I took these two photos this evening on the way home from my dental check-up in Tillsonburg (Geoff at the wheel again while I was shooting). Is your drive from the dentist's office this pretty?

Driving north on Plank Line Road ---

and east on Sweaburg Road ---
