Fine friends, food and critters

On Sunday, September 5th, Rob, Caroline and I visited Linda and Bern Lewis at their piece of heaven in Chapel's Cove. Linda is the wizard behind Baynoddy Knitting, Weaving and Spinning and she and Bern have very handsome llamas, sheep and goats. Wally and Henry come running when they see Linda by the fence.
Bern gave Rob a tour of the vegetable garden bounty. A farm with a sea view, does it get any better than this?

Linda and I went to high school together so we had a lot of catching up to do - we did it over a cup of tea and apple pie made fresh with apples from their own garden.

The farm has been in Bern's family since 1789 and you can almost sense the ancestors nodding their approval of the current use of the land. My husband, Geoff, recently interviewed Linda for the New Farmer section of the CFBMC website. Please check it out for a peek into life and work on the farm.

Rob made a new friend - Wally is quite a character.

    I love all your Newfoundland pictures. I try to visit every year, usually to my cousin in St Johns so I restrict my sightseeing to the Avalon. But I have driven across the island a couple of times,. and have visited Bonne Bay and Rocky Harbour... and Gros Morne... gorgeous. I love the scenery. You are so lucky to be able to visit all those lovely places with your relatives.

    What a fantastic day I love Lama's. In a different life I used to Rep for a varnish company and one of the calls was near to a farm in Sussex that had a flock of them. I used to sit and have my lunch watching them. Cor that was 30 years ago. I am just going to check the article. I was born on a farm and miss it every day. XXX Don

    I love Lamas - they have so much character! Would love even more to see the wool that your friends create !!! (I am a knitter you know!)

    Yep. Looks like the North Georgia Mountains for sure. Beautiful photos. Love the llamas. They spit, don't they? I had to do a shoot once on a couple who raised llamas. They told me not to get my cameras too close because of that.

    That piece of land certainly has some history. I would love to see old photos of the farm.
