A day out

I've been friends with my pal Lorraine Stevens since we met as neighbours in Tillsonburg 20+ years ago. Over the years we've both moved but still live close enough that we're able to get together a couple of times each year to go out for dinner and, once in awhile, we manage to spend a Saturday together. Yesterday was just such a day.

First we drove to Stratford to take care of some shopping errands and then we wound our way to St. Mary's for Piecemakers 2010 an annual quilt show. Lorraine is an avid quilter but I barely know one end of a needle from another. But this is the type of show where you don't have to speak the language to enjoy it - it's more display than vendor driven.
Fortunately for Lorraine (the tall woman on the left) there were some vendors and she was able to find some fat quarters to buy.
There was a tea room and we had our lunch there before heading off again, this time to Country Patchworks just north of Woodstock
where I took photos through a neat old window while Lorraine browsed.
Bottom line? Lots of fun!

  2. It's always nice to hear of old friends catching up. There's nothing quite like it, is there? Those quilts are exquisite! I've only ever made one quilt, enough to learn I don't have the flair or patience for it.

  3. That last photo is wonderful. I definitely think you can look forward to making a little money off of your photography when you retire.

Great story. Friends are so important. And so are quilts, especially in your party of the world.

Poor Gray. How long did he have to stay up there? Skipper loves to be vacuumed. Seriously. He will follow the vac around until we put the rubber thingie on the end of the hose and give him a back massage. And whenever the hand vac comes out we have to vac Skipper first.

    Have a great week.

  4. Friendship - I need to say nothing further....I love the window shot!
Nice quilts. I will pass on the link to Carmella to take a look. As you know, she is a quilter and would have loved your day....
