I'm going with the traditional meaning - being a structure over water connecting two bits of land. Okay, I know, the dictionaries would be much more specific and clinical but it works for me. One of the reason I chose "bridge" is my love of water. Another would be that I like functional architecture. And finally I walk over a bridge into the woods everytime I walk my favorite trail.
So, here are my offerings and I hope everyone has fun with the theme.
The Alexandra Bridge is a long way from where I live but I wanted to post this photo so I could tell you that it is also known as "the Interprovincial Bridge" because it spans the Ottawa River and connects Ottawa, Ontario with Gatineau (formerly Hull) Quebec. In the lower centre of the photo you can also see a small portion of the lock system on the Rideau Canal which links lakes and rivers between Ottawa and Kingston, Ontario. During the winter the canal is a popular place to ice skate.
And finally, here is a winter view of the start of my favorite trail.
