Success! Success?

Ever since I've been trail walking by the river I've been hearing, and occasionally seeing, fleeting glimpses of a Belted Kingfisher. Tonight I was finally successful in getting capturing it on film. I have 3 very grainy shots of a female, of which this is the best -

On the other hand, much closer to home (okay, at home, above the front door) I don't have proof yet that our latest Mourning Dove chicks have hatched. I was estimating that they should have hatched around Monday or Tuesday but so far we haven't seen any sign. I took this shot of papa on the nest just after dinner tonight.

  2. The Kingfisher is a "she" apparently the males don't have the lower stripe (the "rufous" or red one).

The doves are so sweet looking aren't they?
