Nest update and more

Well, it's official, our doves have taken up residence in the hanging planter. I don't know how many eggs are in the nest - one for sure - but June and Ward Cleaver are doing their 24/7 nest sitting. This is a view of the nest/planter from our sidewalk.
I went to the Brick Ponds Wetland at 7:30 this morning and, in the still of the morning, saw this lone Canada Goose on the water. Sarah Lulu has a wonderful post about the spiritual aspects of the Wild Goose.

Lots of fish feeding at the surface.

Two families of geese. One pair had 4 very little goslings, the other pair had 2 much larger ones.

And finally, my first photo of a Great Blue Heron for the season. This shot is not very sharp but I don't like to risk getting too close and scaring them away. So gentle and graceful.

  1. Oh my goodness, those pictures are stunning! I haven't seen a Blue Heron since I lived in Vancouver - such beautiful birds, aren't they?
The pic of the water was incredible - I could actually feel the movement when I looked at it.
Glad to see that your new "neighbors" have settled in! You really need to send that pic to "Creative Bird Housing," or some similarily named magazine!
