My Town Shoot Out - Red

Here are some flashes of red I've seen in my neck of the woods. Not traditional landmarks but they were all eye-catching.

The red breast of an American Robin.
Eye-popping red tulips in a neighbour's garden.

A well-stuffed nest in the "A" of a red Shoppers Drug Mart sign.

No shortage of red barns around here.

A Red-winged Blackbird near Fanshawe College.

And finally, this evening I could hear the call of a Northern Cardinal somewhere coming through our front door. I picked up my camera and quietly sneaked down the walkway until I could pinpoint where the sound was coming from. I looked up and ......there was my final flash of red.

  1. I love your blog's birds. the red barn with the clear blue sky and green green grass is really beautiful. I am not positive but I think that for one or two days in N. Friburgo I see red breasted robins - whether american I don't know - but am always made to feel 'happy' when I see one.

  10. I am totally blown away with your photos. Just love the ones of the birds, never would have thought about finding RED in that department. Cardinals, robins, red winged black birds, what a bird watchers paradise!! Very very nice. I enjoyed looking at each and every one of your pictures very much. I will definitely be back next week to see what you can do with water. Debby

  13. Love your take on Painting the Town Red! We share the same birds, we have two Robins nesting at my home, just yesterday I was watching mama Robin feed her little ones...such a simple delight.

The over head Cardinal shot shouts out "Winter is Over!"
