Rainy day at the feeders

Why do birds flock (pardon the pun) to feeders when the weather is miserable? Whether it's rain or snow, we are almost guaranteed to have visitors at the feeders when we have precipitation. We've had many visitors today, this Purple Finch was at the feeders about just before noon. As you can see, male Purple Finches are not purple - more of a raspberry colour.
Here's a view of our weather...

  1. I don't know why they flock when they do, either.
I am really glad that you like the scent of the candle. Mine has been burning ever since I brought it home yesterday. I forgot to blow it out last night!

  2. I get the same thing in my yard. Allthough I wasn't around much today despite the rain. The feeders are full though. Love the photo of the finch and the rain drops on the branches.
